John has over four decades of experience in the areas of Family Law, including De Facto disputes and matters requiring equitable and common law relief.
He has appeared in areas of his expertise in the Commonwealth Jurisdiction at the Family and Federal Circuit Courts, as well as in the Victorian Magistrates’, County and Supreme Courts.
John’s appearances include participation in many reported decisions, including matters involving;
Financial contributions by third parties in the context of family law and de facto disputes;
The weight to be afforded to initial financial contributions in short relationships;
The rights of associated family members in financial disputes involving separated parents;
The enforceability of Solicitor/Client Cost Agreements;
The enforceability and variation of Binding Financial Agreements and
The role of the Independent Children’s Lawyer in parenting applications.
In the course of his practise John has appeared in complex and long running matters, including a final hearing in a matter which has spanned a period of 3 years (with intermittent adjournments) involving numerous complicated financial and parenting issues.
